The 984 and 986 where Cub Cadet sold tractors not "type code". Yes they had options that the 982 did not have but they were marked 986/984. Many red painted "IH" tractors were sold painted yellow/white with different model numbers. To keep the same overall height you will need to use a lower profile tire with a larger diameter wheel - wider is fine, lower profile will make it ride much worse.

On my #2 125 I have one 26lb IH wheel weight per side but also have a full size battery and three 3/4" thick slabs of steel mounted out back.
